Best Coffee Maker with Grinder 2019? (Grind and Brew)

With so many different coffee brewing methods readily available in 2019 choosing which one to make a great tasting coffee can often leave you scratching your head. Should you use a pour over method, immersion, or simply press a button.

When anyone asks me the best brewing method 9 times out of 10 I will typically recommend the pour over method. But, I understand that a lot of you are pushed for time so the best push-button option is going to be a coffee maker with a grinder built in.

Grinding my coffee beans? Isn’t that a lot of hard work? It’s not as hard or as laborious as you think. Thanks to the selection of coffee makers with grinders built-in. Get all of the benefits of freshly ground coffee without having to do any of the hard work to get the whole beans to your cup, it really is as simple as just pressing a button.

In this article, I have spent some time going over some of the popular grind and brew coffee machines. I’ve picked out brewers that are going to be the best fit for all budgets and some models that will fit into the smallest of kitchen spaces.

So, if you love the taste of freshly ground coffee but you don’t want to spend time manually grinding beans each morning you should grab yourself a good “grind and brew” coffee maker. This type of automatic coffee maker will allow you to make a great tasting cup using freshly ground coffee with a push of a button!

Coffee Maker with Grinder Types

Grind Coffee Beans Without A Coffee Maker

Before I dive in with my coffee maker recommendations, I thought it would be wise to point out the two basic types of coffee grinders that are readily available to consumers. Choosing the right one can have a significant impact on how your final cup of coffee tastes as well as the actual price of the coffee maker with grinder.

Burr Grinders: this type of coffee grinder is the better option. Burr grinders work by crushing coffee beans against a hard surface using a grinder wheel. However, there are really only two types to look for, those with conical grinder wheels (“conical burr”) and those that utilize flat grinding wheels (“wheel burr”). Typically, the wheel burr coffee grinder is going to be more affordable, but the conical type is generally the better coffee grinder since they are less messy and slightly quieter to operate.

Blade Grinders: if you are looking for a cheap coffee grinder the blade type is going to be your best bet. They work by cutting the coffee beans into small pieces using a rotating blade (shaped like a propeller). Blade coffee grinders are noisier than the Burr type, and they don’t grind your coffee uniformly which can lead to an inconsistent extraction during the brewing process; this is why they are much cheaper.

In Summary: the best coffee grinders are the Burr variety, yes they are more expensive than the blade grinders, but you do get what you pay for and in my opinion, scrimping on a coffee grinder is something that shouldn’t be done if you love your coffee as much as I do.

Tip: Are you looking for a cheap Burr grinder (remember they are the best kind of grinder to buy) built-in to a good quality coffee maker? I can’t recommend the Cuisinart Grind-and-Brew enough. It has all of the bells and whistles, and at just under $200 you really can’t go wrong with this coffee brewing combo. You can find it over at Amazon.

Top Rated Coffee Makers with Built-in Grinders (BEST Picks 2019)

I have owned a lot of coffee makers over the years, and I tend to travel a lot for extended periods of time and always end up buying a new unit wherever I briefly settle.

The best coffee maker with grinder I have found for both price and quality is the Cuisinart Grind-and-Brew 12-cup automatic coffeemaker. For under $200 you really can’t go wrong with this coffee brewer for the price.

Cuisinart Grind-and-Brew

Cuisinart Grind and Brew

The Cuisinart Grind-and-Brew uses the Burr grinder which as I mentioned above is the best option for grinding your coffee beans. All it takes to make a cup of freshly ground coffee is to press-one-button, the machine will then automatically grind and brew your drink to your liking depending on your preselection (strong, medium, or mild) via the LCD.

Another smart feature which can come in handy is the 24-hour programmable feature which once set can grind and brew your coffee for you automatically at a time you set so you can have piping hot coffee ready for you when you wake up; perfect for those blurry-eyed Saturday mornings.

Capresso CoffeeTeam GS 10-cup Digital Coffee Maker

Capresso CoffeeTeam GS-10 cup digital coffee maker

Another coffee maker with a grinder that caught my attention when I was researching for this article was the Capresso CoffeeTeam GS 10-cup digital coffee maker. This brewer also has the preferred Burr coffee grinder but what I like about this unit is the option to brew with or without the grinder. This is a great option if you want to use shop bought pre-ground coffee or my personal favorite Kicking Horse Coffee, Whole Bean.

The Capresso coffee maker also has various settings for the type of coffee grind you prefer for example you can choose between 5 grind settings from coarse to fine (and everything in-between) as well as the actual brew amounts needed for your mugs. So depending on how you like your coffee you can set this unit up, so it gets it right every time with no waste.
