I recently had the chance to try out a new revolutionary coffee maker that’s been making waves in the coffee community – the KUKU Maker. This isn’t just your average coffee machine the technology under the hood is like nothing you’ve seen before.

With its unique features and innovative technology, the KUKU Maker will take your coffee brewing experience to a whole new level. You can brew a wide range of different coffee beverages, from cold brew to rich and creamy espresso, all with a push of a button.

So what is this innovative technology that makes the KUKU so different? Keep on reading this review to find out.

What is the KUKU Maker?

KUKU coffee maker review

If you’re a coffee enthusiast like me, you’ve probably heard about the KUKU Maker – it’s been making the rounds on forums and social media for some time. But what exactly is it?

The KUKU Maker is not just your average coffee machine – it’s a versatile tool that can brew various styles of coffee, all with just a few tweaks.

It’s been designed from the ground up to give you unparalleled control over the brewing process, allowing you to adjust key variables like temperature, pressure, and time independently.

This means you can fine-tune your brew to match your personal taste preferences and swap and change to different brew types on the fly.

But that’s not all.

KUKU Maker uses centrifugal force technology for extraction

The KUKU Maker uses centrifugal force technology for extraction, a unique approach that sets it apart from traditional coffee makers and espresso machines. It’s the same kind of technology that is used in coffee machines like the Nespresso, but with a different design and setup and, of course, the ability to use your own ground coffee rather than expensive coffee pods.

The way the centrifugal force is produced by the KUKU Maker is directly generated in the coffee grounds cup during the process of extraction and can reach up to 12 bars of pressure, making it possible to make various types of coffee.

Also, it’s worth mentioning that the build quality of the KUKU is outstanding, the outer body has been made from durable Aluminum alloy, and the internal components that are in contact with water are stainless steel, which is very safe and you don’t have to worry about any plastic chemicals leaching into your coffee.

The unit is also waterproof, and I believe the outer shell has been coasted in a water-repellent solution that repels water.

Honestly, all of the components feel premium, to the touch, and there are no flimsy plastic parts – the brewer just felt like a well-made premium product!

Overview of the Unique KUKU Maker Features

So, what sets the KUKU Maker apart from other coffee makers? Let’s take a closer look at its unique features:

  • Variable Separation: The KUKU Maker is the first coffee machine that allows you to control the core variables of extraction – temperature, pressure, and time – independently. This means you can adjust one without affecting the others, giving you more control over the brewing process and the taste of your coffee.
  • Centrifugal Force Technology: Unlike traditional coffee machines that use boiling water or a pressure pump, the KUKU Maker uses centrifugal force to generate extraction pressure. This innovative approach is determined by the radius and speed of rotation.
  • Cyclic Extraction Principle: This principle enables the KUKU Maker to produce different coffee flavors. By adjusting variables like temperature, pressure, and time, you can experiment with various brewing methods and discover your perfect cup of coffee.
  • Easy to Clean and Maintain: We all know that cleaning a coffee machine can be a hassle. But with the KUKU Maker, it’s a breeze. Its design makes it easy to clean and maintain, so you can spend less time cleaning and more time enjoying your coffee.

Seriously this machine is pretty impressive!

Brewing Coffee with the KUKU Maker

For this review, I tested the KUKU maker on the cold brew setting. I used 50g ice, 80g water, and 20g coffee ground; the coffee grind size I used was a fine espresso grind.

Now bear in mind that normal regular cold brew typically takes around 12 hours of steeping in the fridge, but with the KUKU Maker, you are able to reduce that time significantly, and a batch of cold brew takes only a few minutes.

But even though it produced a batch of cold brew quickly, it didn’t skimp on the flavor or strength – in fact, it produced better cold brew than traditional cold brewed coffee steeped for hours and hours.

Take a look.

Strength Test: Using a TDS Refractometer

Now diving in a little deeper, I used a TDS tool to test a batch of regular cold brew and the cold brew produced by the KUKU maker, and the results were surprising.

If you don’t know what I TDS tool is, it is a device that measures the amount of dissolved solids compared to water – essentially, how strong a batch of coffee is. When you add a sample of brewed coffee to the TDS refractometer, it gives you a number that tells us the brew strength.

So getting back to the KUKU.

The regular cold brew that had been steeping in the fridge for over 12 hours measured just 1% in concentration.

Now what surprised me was that the coffee brewed in the KUKU maker in just a few minutes was over double the strength with a reading of 2.52

How to Use the KUKU Maker

Now that we’ve covered what the KUKU Maker is and its unique features, let’s get down to the fun part – brewing coffee. Here’s how I made my cold brew coffee using the KUKU MAker.

Let’s get started!

Step 1: Fill the Water Tank

Start by filling the water tank to the desired level. The KUKU Maker has clear markings to guide you, ensuring you use just the right amount of water for your brew.

For cold brew, you’ll want to add iced cold water; even throwing in some crushed ice directly into the machine’s water reservoir isn’t an issue.

Step 2: Add Your Favorite Coffee Grounds

Next, add your favorite coffee grounds to the coffee basket and tap the basket to help evenly disperse the grounds. Remember, the quality of your coffee grounds can make or break your brew.

So, choose wisely! I recommend whole-bean coffee from Volcanica and grind just before you brew.

Add the coffee basket to the top of the machine and twist it in place.

Step 3: Set Your Desired Temperature, Pressure, and Time

This is where the magic happens. Using the control panel, set your desired temperature, pressure, and time.

This is where the KUKU Maker’s variable separation feature comes in handy, allowing you to control each variable independently for a truly customized brew.

Step 4: Press the Start Button

Now, all that’s left to do is press the start button and wait for the magic to happen. The KUKU Maker will take care of the rest, brewing your coffee to your exact specifications.

And there you have it!

Different Coffee Styles with the KUKU Maker

One of the things I love about the KUKU Maker is its versatility. Whether you’re in the mood for a strong espresso or a smooth cold brew, this machine has got you covered. Here’s how you can make different types of coffee:

  • Espresso: For a classic espresso, set the temperature to high, the pressure to high, and the time to short. The result? A rich, full-bodied shot of espresso that’s sure to kickstart your day.
  • Cold Brew: If you’re a fan of cold brew, set the temperature to low, the pressure to medium, and the time to long. The KUKU Maker will slowly extract the flavors from the coffee grounds, resulting in a smooth, refreshing cold brew.
  • Americano: For an Americano, start by brewing an espresso. Then, add hot water to dilute it. The result is a balanced, aromatic cup of coffee that’s perfect for any time of the day.

Remember, these are just guidelines. But when you get your hands on the KUKU, feel free to experiment with different settings to find your perfect brew this really is a versatile coffee maker.

You Can Even Use a Smartphone App

With the KUKU Maker, you’re not just getting a coffee maker, you’re getting a whole coffee brewing experience, thanks to its exclusive app. This app gives you the freedom and precision to set the exact pressure for extraction and allows you to control the temperature according to your preferences.

Once you’ve found your perfect settings, you can save them as a template. This means you can replicate your ideal brew at the touch of a button, anytime you want. It’s like having your own personal barista recipe!

And the best part? You can share your template with your friends.

This allows them to quickly and easily copy your coffee brewing method. So, not only can you enjoy your perfect cup of coffee, but you can also help your friends discover theirs.

It’s a win-win situation for all coffee lovers!

Comparing the KUKU Maker with Other Coffee Brewers

So, how does the KUKU Maker stack up against other, let’s stay, “normal” coffee makers? Let’s find out.

Most coffee makers are designed to brew one or two types of coffee. But the KUKU Maker? It’s a jack of all trades. Whether you’re craving an espresso, a cold brew, or an Americano, the KUKU Maker has got you covered.

Control Over Brewing Variables

Many coffee makers allow you to control the brewing temperature and time. But the KUKU Maker takes it a step further by letting you control the extraction pressure as well. This level of control is rare in home coffee makers.

Use of Centrifugal Force

While most coffee makers rely on pressure pumps or boiling water to extract coffee, the KUKU Maker uses centrifugal force.

This unique approach not only sets it apart from other coffee makers but also contributes to a more consistent brew.

Ease of Cleaning

We’ve all been there – enjoying a delicious cup of coffee, only to be faced with the daunting task of cleaning the coffee maker afterward. The KUKU Maker, with its easy-to-clean design, makes this chore a breeze.

Pros and Cons of The KUKU Maker

Like any product, the KUKU Maker has its strengths and weaknesses. When it comes to reviewing a coffee machine, I believe it’s important to consider both sides of the coin.

So, let’s take a look at the pros and cons of the KUKU Maker.

What We Love

  • Versatility: The KUKU Maker can brew a variety of coffee styles, making it a great choice for coffee lovers who like to experiment with different brews.
  • Control Over Brewing Variables: The ability to independently control temperature, pressure, and time gives you more control over the brewing process and the taste of your coffee.
  • Innovative Technology: The use of centrifugal force for extraction is a unique feature that sets the KUKU Maker apart from traditional coffee makers.
  • Ease of Cleaning: The KUKU Maker’s design makes it easy to clean and maintain, saving you time and effort.

Take Note

  • Price: High-quality coffee makers often come with a hefty price tag, and the KUKU Maker is no exception. However, for coffee enthusiasts who value quality and versatility, it could be a worthwhile investment.
  • Learning Curve: With its advanced features and controls, the KUKU Maker might be a bit overwhelming for beginners. But don’t worry, with a little practice, you’ll be brewing like a pro in no time.
  • Availability: As a new product, the KUKU Maker might not be readily available in all regions. But keep an eye out, as it’s expected begin shipping worldwide, from the end of August 2024.

My Thoughts On The KUKU Maker

As we wrap up this review, it’s clear that the KUKU Maker is a game-changer in the world of home brewing. Its unique features, such as variable separation, centrifugal force technology, and cyclic extraction principle, offer a level of control and versatility that’s hard to find in other coffee makers.

Sure, it might have a steeper learning curve for beginners due to the new method of brewing coffee, and let’s not forget its price tag might be a bit hefty.

But for those who value quality and versatility, and are willing to invest time and money into their coffee brewing experience, the KUKU Maker could be a fantastic addition to their kitchen.

In the end, coffee brewing is a personal journey. It’s about finding that perfect cup that suits your taste. And with the KUKU Maker, you have the freedom to experiment and discover your own perfect brew.

So, whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned coffee lover, the KUKU Maker is definitely worth considering.
