Ingredients
2 shots of espresso.
2 to 3 tablespoons of strawberry sauce or strawberry puree.
1/2 cup (0.12 l) cup whole milk.
Ice cubes.
Optional, whipped cream for topping.
Optional, extra strawberry sauce for drizzling.
Instructions
Start by brewing the espresso. If you do not have an espresso machine, you can use a moka pot, AeroPress, or any method that produces a strong coffee concentrate. The goal is rich, bold flavor that can stand up to the sweetness.
Once brewed, let the espresso cool slightly. Dropping hot espresso straight onto ice melts it too quickly, which waters down the drink. If you have the time, chill it for a couple of minutes.
In a tall glass, spoon in the strawberry sauce. You can swirl it up the sides of the glass if you want that layered striped look you see in cafés.
Add ice until the glass is about halfway full. You want enough ice to keep the drink cold, but not so much that the espresso cannot filter down.
Slowly pour in the milk. Keep the pour gentle so the strawberry stays mostly at the bottom. This helps create clean layers.
Pour the cooled espresso over the top. This final layer should rest above the milk at first, giving you that classic three-toned iced latte look.
If you want extra sweetness or a dessert-style finish, add whipped cream and another drizzle of strawberry sauce.
Notes
If you want a sweeter-tasting iced strawberry latte, you can use a single espresso shot or add a bit more strawberry sauce.
