In this article have researched and handpicked some of what I think are the best personal coffee makers for your home. I have picked out the brewers based on brand, price, and features to save you the time and effort of laboriously researching each coffee maker on your own. Is A Single Cup Coffee Maker Right for You?

Before you even think about buying a personal coffee maker take a minute to think if this type of coffee brewer is the right choice for you. 1-cup coffee makers are perfect for brewing a single cup of coffee throughout the day, however they are not workhorses and will struggle if you are brewing a large amount of coffee for friends, family, or co-workers.

Does This Sound Like You?

You enjoy gourmet coffee but don’t like the extra effort involved in grinding the coffee beans and frothing the milk.

If you are always in a rush and want to get you coffee fix quickly these new machines may be exactly what you want.

If you hate cleaning and the mess involved in normal coffee making and want to brew coffee effortlessly.

If you live in a home where everyone has different tastes in coffee.

Do you live alone and brew just for one?

If you answered yes to all of some of these a single cup coffee maker might be just what you need. Let’s take a look at some of my recommendations of the best personal coffee makers below.

Which Personal Coffee Makers Do I Recommend?

When it comes to choosing the best personal coffee makers there are only a handful of brewers that I will personally recommend. The Keurig K10 Mini Plus Brewing System is one of those coffee makers. The Keurig K10 is tiny and making a cup of coffee is as simple as adding a coffee pod and pressing one button and after 2-minutes your single cup of coffee is done. The Keurig Mini can also make iced beverages, hot cocoa, and even specialty teas. It really packs a lot of brewing in one small package.

Another one of my personal favorites is the personal coffee maker offered by KitchenAid. The smart feature with the KitchenAid personal coffee maker is that fact that is brews directly into an 18oz thermal mug that you can pick up and take with you when you are on the move, perfect for the early morning commute.

Similar in design to the KitchenAid is the Capresso on-the-go personal coffee maker the design is almost the same but the key difference with the Capresso is you can use loose freshly ground coffee or coffee pods. Just like the KitchenAid you brew your coffee directly into a thermal travel mug and take your coffee with you.

My last personal coffee maker pick is the BUNN MCU single cup multi-use home coffee brewer. BUNN is really a top rated coffee maker brand that have been manufacturing coffee machines for decades. BUNN home coffee makers are reliable and will effortlessly brew coffee for years without any issues, I have had one since the early 1990’s that is still going strong after all these years. They may not look the most attractive sat on your kitchen countertop but they make up for looks with solid, reliable performance.

Things to Consider Before You Part with Your Money

Before you run out and buy a new personal coffee maker there are a few things you should be aware of, this could be the deciding factor for some of you whether a personal coffee maker is the right choice for you.

Even though the best personal coffee makers are super convenient that convenience comes at a price. Below are two disadvantages of owning a 1-cup coffee maker that I can currently think of.

  1. If you drink a lot of coffee (multiple cups throughout the day) then a personal coffee maker can cost you a lot more when compared to regular coffee machines. This it because most of the best personal coffee makers use coffee pods vs. loose coffee found in other single cup coffee makers. With an assortment pack of coffee pods sometimes costing in the region of $20 the cost of making coffee at home quickly adds up.
  2. Because the best 1-cup coffee makers tend to use coffee pods you will always be limited in your choice of coffees. Sure the selection of coffee pod flavors is growing by-the-day, but with other coffee makers you have to option to use hundreds of different types of ground coffee brought from stores and online.

Even though personal coffee makers are becoming more and more popular I still find myself using the tried and tested coffee makers that don’t limit the type coffee you can use and allow you to brew for more than one person at a time. I guess it really boils down to your own personal needs whether choosing a best personal coffee maker for your home brewing needs is for you.
